Forward Alpha LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Fridge to Frame mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our App.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

  • Email Address: Collected when you create an account
  • Display Name: Optional, for personalizing your profile
  • User ID: Automatically generated unique identifier for your account
  • Sign-In Data: If you use Apple Sign In, we receive your Apple ID authentication token

1.2 Usage Data

  • Transformation History: Records of images you’ve transformed, including timestamps and settings
  • Subscription Status: Your current tier (Free, Starter, Pro), usage counts, and credits
  • Device Information: Automatically collected by Firebase Analytics (see Section 3.2)
  • Analytics Events: Button clicks, screen views, feature usage, transformation metrics

1.3 User-Generated Content

  • Uploaded Images: Original drawings/photos you upload for transformation
  • Transformed Images: AI-generated results from your transformations
  • Optional Text Descriptions: Any text or prompts you provide when creating transformations

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Text Descriptions and Personal Information

The optional description field is intended for describing your drawing’s subject matter (e.g., “a dinosaur,” “my family at the park,” “a spaceship”).

User-provided text descriptions are sent to Google Gemini API for image transformation but are NOT stored in our database. These descriptions are used only for the immediate API request and are discarded after processing completes.

WARNING: If you or your child enters personal information (names, addresses, ages, phone numbers, schools) in the description field, this information will be sent to Google Gemini API for processing. We strongly recommend NOT including personal information in descriptions.

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1 To Provide and Maintain Our Service

  • Account creation and authentication
  • Processing image transformations via Google Gemini API
  • Storing and syncing your transformation history across devices
  • Managing subscription status and usage limits

2.2 To Communicate With You

  • Send account-related notifications
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Send subscription and payment confirmations

2.3 To Improve and Analyze Our App

  • Understanding user behavior and feature usage
  • Measuring conversion funnel performance
  • Identifying and fixing bugs
  • Improving AI transformation quality

2.4 For Legal Compliance and Security

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce our terms of service
  • Protect against fraud and abuse

3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

3.1 Google Gemini/Imagen API (AI Image Processing)

Purpose: Transform your uploaded images into photorealistic art

Data Sent to Google Gemini:

  • Your uploaded image (resized to max 1024px, compressed to approximately 200-400KB JPEG)
  • System-generated prompt with transformation instructions
  • Optional user-provided text description (if you choose to enter one)
  • Technical parameters (aspect ratio, model name)

Data NOT Sent: Your name, email address, age, device information, location, or any other personal identifiers.

Data Retention: Google does not use customer data sent to the Gemini API to train their models. Data is processed according to Google Cloud’s data processing terms and is not retained by Google after the transformation is complete.

3.2 Firebase (Google Cloud Platform)

Purpose: Authentication, cloud storage, and analytics

Firebase Authentication: Manages user accounts and sign-in

Firebase Cloud Storage & Firestore: Stores your images and transformation history

Firebase Analytics – Automatically Collected Data:

  • Device model (e.g., iPhone 14, iPad Pro)
  • Operating system version (iOS version)
  • Device language settings
  • Screen resolution
  • Mobile carrier name
  • Country/region (derived from IP address)
  • App version number
  • App package name
  • Anonymous installation ID
  • Session duration and frequency

Firebase Analytics – Events We Explicitly Track:

  • Button clicks (e.g., “create_transform”, “plan_select”, “purchase_button”)
  • Screen views (which screens users navigate to)
  • Transformation metrics: success/failure status, processing time, image orientation, image file size (in KB)
  • Purchase funnel events: plan selection, purchase attempts, purchase completion/cancellation
  • Authentication events: sign-up or login method (email or Apple Sign In)
  • User tier property (free, starter, pro) for understanding feature usage by subscription level

🔒 Firebase Analytics Privacy Protection

Firebase Analytics does NOT receive:

  • Your user-generated images or image content
  • Text descriptions you enter
  • Personal identifiers like email addresses or names
  • Only aggregate, anonymous metrics are collected

We do not use Firebase data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

3.3 Groq Vision API (Optional Enhanced Prompts)

Purpose: For improved transformation quality, we may use Groq Llama Vision API to analyze drawings and identify object positions before sending to Google Gemini.

Data Sent: Your uploaded image (resized and compressed) via our secure proxy server

Data Processing: Groq analyzes the image and returns a structured description of objects and their positions, which is used to create more accurate transformation prompts

3.4 RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

Purpose: Manage in-app purchases and subscriptions

Data Shared: Anonymous user identifiers, subscription status, purchase transaction data

3.5 Apple (In-App Purchases)

Purpose: Process payments and manage subscriptions via Apple’s In-App Purchase system

Data Shared: Purchase transactions, subscription status (handled by Apple’s infrastructure)

3.6 Data Not Sold or Shared for Marketing

We do not sell your data or share it for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above for the specific purposes of providing and improving our App functionality.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where Your Data Is Stored

  • Local Device: Some data is cached locally on your device for performance
  • Firebase Cloud (Google Cloud Platform): Your images, transformation history, and account data are stored on Google Cloud servers (US region)
  • RevenueCat Servers: Subscription data is hosted on AWS US-East

4.2 Security Measures

  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • Firebase Security Rules ensure users can only access their own data
  • Email verification required for all accounts
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text

Important: While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Data Retention

5.1 Account Data

Your account information, images, and transformation history are retained while your account remains active or until you delete them.

5.2 Transformation Images

Original and transformed images are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage until you manually delete individual transformations or delete your entire account.

5.3 Text Descriptions

User-provided text descriptions are NOT stored in our database. They are used only for the immediate API request to Google Gemini and are discarded immediately after processing.

5.4 Purchase History

Purchase and subscription records are retained for legal and tax compliance purposes, even after account deletion.

5.5 Analytics Data

Firebase Analytics retains user-level event data for up to 14 months (Firebase’s default retention period), after which it is aggregated and anonymized.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your account information within the App’s Profile tab.

6.2 Delete Transformations

You can delete individual transformations at any time from the History tab in the App.

6.3 Delete Account

You can delete your entire account from the Profile tab. This will permanently remove:

  • All original images
  • All transformed images
  • User profile data
  • Transformation history metadata
  • Authentication credentials

Note: Purchase history may be retained for compliance purposes.

6.4 Data Portability

You can export your transformed images using the standard iOS share sheet functionality.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is rated 4+ and designed for family use with parental supervision.

While the App is suitable for general audiences including children, we recognize that it may be used by children and we take their privacy seriously.

7.1 Parental Supervision Recommended

We strongly recommend that parents supervise their children’s use of the App, particularly when:

  • Creating an account (email address required)
  • Entering optional text descriptions (to avoid sharing personal information)
  • Making in-app purchases (requires Apple ID authentication)

7.2 Children Under 13

We do not knowingly collect or store personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

  • Account creation requires an email address, which should be provided by a parent or guardian
  • If a child enters personal information in the optional description field, it may be sent to Google Gemini API but is NOT stored in our database
  • Parents can delete their child’s account and all associated data at any time

7.3 Parental Rights

Parents or guardians can:

  • Review their child’s account information
  • Delete transformations or the entire account
  • Request information about what data has been collected

If you believe your child has provided personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@theforwardalpha.com and we will delete it promptly.

7.4 COPPA Compliance

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The App:

  • Does not contain advertising
  • Does not have social features or public sharing within the app
  • Does not allow interaction between users
  • Does not use persistent identifiers for behavioral advertising
  • Does not retain user-provided text descriptions

8. AI and Machine Learning Practices

8.1 How We Use AI

We use Google Gemini API to transform your uploaded drawings into photorealistic images. This is the core functionality of the App.

8.2 AI Training

Your images are NOT used to train our proprietary AI models (we don’t have any). We rely entirely on Google’s Gemini API, which does not use customer data to train their models according to Google’s terms of service.

8.3 AI Processing Transparency

When you transform an image:

  1. Your image is resized and compressed on your device
  2. The image (and optional description) is sent to Google Gemini API via HTTPS
  3. Google’s AI generates a transformed image based on your drawing
  4. The result is returned to the App and stored in your Firebase Storage
  5. Your original description text is discarded (not stored)

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: Request details about the personal information we collect and how it’s used
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information (available in-app)
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

10. International Users

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws.

11. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law, typically within 72 hours of discovering the breach.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
  • Notify you via email or in-app notification for material changes
  • Post the updated policy at this URL

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

13. No Social Features or Public Sharing

The App does not include:

  • Social sharing within the app
  • User profiles visible to other users
  • Comments or messaging features
  • Public galleries or community feeds
  • Any interaction between users

The only sharing option is the standard iOS share sheet, which allows you to share your transformed images via your device’s native sharing options (Messages, Photos, etc.). This is handled entirely by iOS and not by our App.
